What is diamond color? Actually when discussing color, our GIA graduate gemologists are illustrating how much or how little "tint" there is in your diamond. The less tint, the more "colorless" your diamond. Diamonds are graded for color using a scale from D through Z. A colorless diamond of grade D has no tint or color. The lower the color grade of a diamond, the more its body color. It may appear to be more yellowish, brownish, or even grayish, but it no longer appears white.
This color scale does not apply to natural yellow, blue, pink, or other natural fancy colored diamonds. Our trained gemologists will be more than happy to assist you if you are considering the purchase of a natural fancy colored diamond.
